Characters of LifeA Poem by Elegant ImperfectionsA look inside the minds of the Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, Dorothy, Peter Pan, and Pinocchio
Look into my eyes, what do you find?
What's there staring back at me? What's truth and lies without a mind? Does my life have meaning? End of the day, it will be gone Dreams all faded into dust Will my story carry on When these joints begin to rust? King of the beasts, strong and brave That's what they call me No inner peace, so soul to save And my fears still stall me So far from home, nowhere to go When the storm stands still They say I'm a hero Big red shoes to fill These lost boys believe in me My shadow moves on it's own Like the leader I can't be I fear how large it's grown Tangled in strings, my private cell Controlled by hands above me It's everything, these lies I tell Have become part of me But hold on. Hold on Mr. Scarecrow Hold on To the things you do know Hold on Dear Tinman Life will be gone Live it while you can Hold on Mighty Lion Being strong Isn't scared of crying Hold on Dorothy You belong A hero naturally Hold on Old lost boy Your shadow's long From the light you employ Hold on Pinocchio All along Truth was under your nose Hold on Whoever listens When the sun Comes out, even tears glisten Hold on And don't forget Your story isn't over yet
