the way the world ends

the way the world ends

A Poem by Zoe

what a tactful way to put it
boy
grievances of mine flutter to the floor like candy wrappers
i focus my attention to the blades of grass that seem to wither in front of my too long eyelashes
does this silence make you uncomfortable?

does it?

because i see into your window at night
it glows yellow while
im stomping my feet
trying to protect my flame
from going out

i threw a match in the sink
i threw a match in the sink and it
sizzled

"this is how the world ends
this is how the world ends
this is how the world ends
not with a bang
but a whimper
"

Interesting usage of imagery but I liked it just the same. The end tied everything up nicely but I felt that before the beginning stanzas there should have been something to introduce everything for this poem played out more like a story. Either way I liked the descriptions and the thoughts.
