Thankful

Thankful

A Story by C Wood

I've been thinking lately of my great grand-parents, who survived two world wars and the great depression (amongst countless other trials). They knew what it was to be without. They went without food, sometimes shelter. They went without.

As per my own trials I, have but scratched the surface. There have been nights I've gone without food. Not many but it's happened and will more than likely happen again. Perhaps many times. There have been times I've gone without shelter. Not many but it has happened and more then likely will happen again. Many times.

A thought occurred to me tonight:

Have I a guitar, no matter where I am, I will have music.

Have I paper, no matter where I am, I will have art.

Have I nothing more then air in my lungs, no matter where, I shall have voice.

Because of these things, although I may have nothing, I shall still have more then those who own all the tiny treasures of the Earth.

For those who have everything shall never know the opportunity to make something from nothing.

I'm glad you were able to write this. I'm sorry it took me so long to read it but I just now saw the friend request. I've read the other things you wrote. They seem kinda personal so I didn't feel it appropriate to comment on them but will if you want. This one was just too good to not say something about; so I did.
