A twisted TruthA Poem by elastagirlI live in an area plagued with sad faces. I wrote this for a girl i met who i see each day turning tricks. So young of age and she is so alone and lost.A Twisted Truth Why does no one see me? As I stand in front of them Why does no one here me As I scream out to all of them Nothing ever changes As I walk these desperate streets Passing unknown strangers Hardened faces showing their deceit I might have stood a chance If someone had only reached out Showing me a different way Instead of leaving me with doubt I’m just a useless addict A tramp left to walk these lonely streets No value no worth Hey you know, talk is cheap Once I was a child Battered and abused Abandon by a mother Who chose crack as her muse Neglected and ignored Except for her many men Who used my body to pay her debt Only to get high again Still a child inside Sacrificed now to the wolves I walk these streets As the little sanity I have left Slowly fades to woes What becomes of me it matters not No one cares as I blend in among the faces Passing strangers one by one As I become one of the many wasted Nothing ever changes As I walk these desperate streets Passing unknown strangers Hardened faces showing their deceit I might have stood a chance If someone had only reached out Showing me a different way Instead of leaving me with doubt
