To You My Child

To You My Child

A poem i wrote a my promise given to my daughter when she was born.

"
TO YOU MY CHILD

To you my child this oath I take
To always love and not forsake

To bandage knees and scraped up arms
To dry all tears with magic charms

To teach respect  to let you shine
To know you’re separate yet still mine

To always believe and show trust in you
Through-out your life and all you do

To be there if hurt to catch you fall
To make you stand not build up walls

To worry by the window if ever you’re late
To inquire of loves and your chosen mate

To protect from harm through-out the years
To allow independence yet still dry your tears

Share secrets and laughter late into the night
A kiss placed on your forehead as I turn off the light

To show love and praise for all you achieve
To teach you how wrong it is to deceive

To cry when you’re ready to fly out on your own
To remember the love we shared in this home

You are a gift Megan given from his grace above
My oath to you child is this oath of my love.
