Chase of the witchA Poem by elastagirlA poem based on false accusations ,fear and hysteria that seem to arise in the 1600 . salemChase of the witch In the darkness she hides In the shadows she cries Hunted by all those she knows Her face bares the lies And reflects in her eyes As the charges are read by her foes They point and they sneer Her fate it draws near Without a trial she’s condemned for her crimes Judgment now past back to hell she is cast Her sentence to burn in the night It’s the chase of the witch Her names on a list Before all the witch must confess Bow down on your knees Satan renounce Save your soul before it is dammed A confession is sought Accusations are made A priest some where begs for her life Tortured and starved Beaton and scared 6 days she lays way to the night In the darkness she hides In the shadows she cries Her confession now goes unheard Her face bares the lies And reflects in her eyes As she’s led to the place she will burn They point and they cheer Her fate is now here She will die for her crimes against god Judgment now past Her sentence now cast She screams as she blisters and burns It’s the chase of the witch Her name scratched from the list Justice has now been served Another accused hides in the night Her face bares the lies And reflects in her eyes As the chase of the witch Starts anew.
