                COMBAT ~ Mental vs Physical

Strongest opponent in a presumably 'matched' bout

        will be a 'Victor', ~ without doubt.

Strategy displayed in a skillful mind

      The defender is set in kind,

   as he assesses his opponent on par 

    in a bid for survival in all out war.

Stage is evident when standing face to face, at start.

Feel the fear as pounding heart

          begins to sting:

be it on Dojo or in the ring.

Physical/Mental battle goes on >>>>

weakest chink in the armour paramount.

In this chosen space, may the greater man be known!

Eye to eye contact is made <<<*>>>

and the smallest word can be the catalyst

demoralizeing the opponent before taking him on.

Dominance in this confined space is shown

when the opponent finally hits the ground ...

the battle is won ... a new victor is found!

I interpret this piece as not just being about physical combat between self and an opponent, but also the combat that often can occur daily between the mind and body, the mind and soul. I think we all engage in personal combat within ourselves. And just like physical combat, the strongest will always survive and endure.

An interesting poem, Kitty. Certainly open to individual interpretation as you described. Nice work.

i have trouble these days reading poems in small print Kitty but i am glad i managed to read this one because looking someone straight in the eye shows honesty and openness the true trait of goodness taking
