Shadows of TimeA Poem by Ed LaFreniereThe Shadows of Time

I loved you then, moonglow drenched your face Everything in my world seemed right in place Since you left I look so often for that light But I just find my soul flailing in the night.
Funny how the glow isn’t much dimmer It’ll always be much more than a glimmer The shadows of time may conceal your face Still I reach in the dark for even a trace.
The shadows of time, shadows of time, Shadows of time, shadows of time.
Life’s way too short to wallow in sorrow, They say, live for today and hope for tomorrow Endless regrets will only cloud your mind Gotta be strong to overcome love that’s blind.
But I wonder: Was it real or was it a fling Was it just a soft puff on an angel’s wing I may never know, but I still feel your sting Do you ever think you did the wrong thing?
I will always fantasize where you are I will always fantasize who you are I don’t know if you’re near or if you’re far Did that angel find you a bright north star?
The days are fading, life itself is fading But my heart will never need persuading. Though the shadows of time have concealed your face I still reach in the dark for that perfect place. Perfect place. Perfect place.
The shadows of time, shadows of time, Shadows of time, shadows of time. Shadows of time, shadows of time, Shadows of time, shadows of time. Perfect place.
Perfect place.
