YESTERDAY

YESTERDAY

A Poem by Eddie Phillips
"

I miss my granddad a lot...time heals but you never forget

"

I woke up this morning smiling about yesterday.
Yesterday I was a child who didn't think about today.
I never thought about you leaving; loss never crossed my mind.
Yesterday wasn't painful; I had your love with me all the time.
Yesterday you were happy and singing your favorite song.
Yesterday I was with you and not sitting here feeling alone.
It only seems like yesterday that I last heard you laugh.
Your voice echoes in my dreams and illuminates our past.
I can never be sad when I reminisce on all those good times.
Yesterday soothes the heart, when your loss troubles my mind.
Yesterday passed so quickly, it was out of sight before I knew.
I praise God for his favor in allowing the days I spent with you.
I picture you in white robes singing in Heaven with a broad smile.
You are smiling holding a place for us all to see you in a while.
Happy Birthday Granddad!  I really miss you a lot this year.
Comforted by the yesterdays when you were close and I was near.
I won't let myself be angry; today is not a day for senseless strife.
It’s a day to make you proud of the things I do in this brief life.
Today I dwell on yesterday, celebrating the life of a good man.
I hold on to our yesterday, until I can see you and hug you again.

Happy Birthday Granddad I love you....
