I WAVE THIS FLAG

I WAVE THIS FLAG

A Poem by Eddie Phillips
"

I love my country and hold on to the faith that she will continue to work on our problems. Nothing comes from living without hope

"

I don't wave this flag proudly because its mine or yours
No, I wave this flag smartly because its dream yet endures
Muddied and shredded it's traveled thousands of miles
Yet, it can still signify freedom to the oppressed and defiled
I proudly wave this flag, despite the terrors of unjust man
It still signifies and honors those who did make a stand
Yes, there is oppression and many who are wronged
But as long as she waves there is faith that we can get along
I wave it as a veteran defending our country day and night
It signifies to the world that we can stand for what is right
I wave this flag thinking of all the blood that was spent
It honors my ancestors that gave it their strength
Some wave it for freedom; some wave it for pride
Some wave it honor our heroes who have died
Yet, I don't wave this flag because its yours or its mine
I wave it because I believe the dream of freedom yet abides

First of all I want to thank you for serving from the bottom of my heart and the pride for all. This is a beautifully written poem that Honors what America (I hope) still stands for.

I hope you don't mind me calling you my Brother, Brother in America, Brother in life, Brother in all the we stand for and fight, Brother in freedom
