THANKS FOR THE SACRIFICE

THANKS FOR THE SACRIFICE

A Poem by Eddie Phillips
"

It is hard being deployed away from family and friends. I wrote this a long time ago but it still rings true.

"

As you enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner remember those who sacrifice for peace.
Reflect on the time and effort given by our forces in the Middle East.
Pray for the deployed sailors who are sailing far away from home
Give thanks for the soldiers standing watch just to keep our country strong
As you sit down with your family and give thanks on this blessed day
Please offer up a few words for these heroes as you sit down and pray
Remember they have families, they have spouses, and children too
Yet they sacrifice their own happiness to ensure peace for all of you
Thanksgiving is a day to reflect on how we have been blessed
So give God your humble gratitude for those who give their best
It will only take a moment but God will hear you when you pray
He will honor your simple prayer and bring them home safe and sound one day
