Just lost my granddad. This was the poem I wrote racing to see him before he passed...I was too late.
I am packing away this sadness. Dissonance won't capitulate to thepeace inside my mind. Everymomentreveals a memorythat I hadforgotten over time. Moments of paternallaughtermixedwith themusicwe would play. Thesmile I would alwayshavewhen I sawyou on Thanksgiving or Christmas Day. Everyprofoundlittlemoment has a link with you inside my heart. I mentallybrowse through all thesemomentsstruggling not to fallapart. Alargepart of theman I am is because of your helpfulhand... Allthoseneededemotionalwhispers that gave me faith to stand.
Yes, I am packing away my heartache with theclothes inside my bag. I am fighting through thisemotionalrampart, refusing to feelsad. Poeticwords that are sodear to me dwindle as theyreach my mind. I struggle metaphorically to expressthe despondence deepinside. I knowthat God has you; you are safe in his eternalhands. I hurtbecause I will missyou until wemeetonceagain. I justwanted to say I loveyou; I justwanted to thankyou face-to-face. Alargepart of man I am is because of your lovinggrace
Poet....this is fabulous!! What a wonderful way to honor your grandfather's memory. It is so nice to be close to a family member. This is so full of love and admiration. Well written...
Oh Eddie...this made me cry. I lost my papa over twenty years ago. My parents divorced when I was three and my mother came back home to live with her parents. My papa and grandma were so special to me. Papa was my father figure...i miss him so much. I'm truly sorry for your loss but it sounds like he gave you everything you needed to become a good man. Hugs my friend.
Your grandfather's grace gives you purpose; and God's grace gives you strength. I'm sure that your grandfather is very proud of you and felt free to release himself from these early bonds knowing that he had taught you all of the lessons needed to get by in this world. He will be waiting for you on the other side singing of the praises of the Lord, waiting for you to join in the chorus.

I write everything. Whatever is on my heart comes through my pen. I do not limit myself to only write what I think. I write what I feel. I write a lot .. more..
