A LITTLE BIT OF COMPASSION

A LITTLE BIT OF COMPASSION

A Poem by Eddie Phillips
"

Antoinette Tuff talked down a possible murderer and saved students and faculty. You can never downplay compassion. Love can heal but it takes faith.

"

Just a little bit of compassion can heal a ailing soul
The smallest bit of love can make any person feel whole
You can just stand in the gap, when all others run away
Your actions might give hope to fight on another day
Human mercy is infectious, its major symptom is grace
Just being kind in love and charity can stir a person's faith
A compassionate dispostion can change the world around you
It can heal a ailing soul and at the same time bless you too

Oh, love this! When I arrived at WC almost a year ago, I was obsessed with the qualities a person like this woman has, what it would take to change and still the darkest of minds and intentions ( I was working on a novel where the heros "power" is ultimate compassion). You take me back there with this eloquent write!
And so true that the act of compassion heals the compassionate person too!

How very true. Compassion is another word for love and love is the greatest healer of all. Very nicely conceived and crafted, Eddie.

This pulled on my heart strings, I have seen this story on the news and people only judge. I loved each word and could not agree with you more. The world needs more compassion and understanding along with the willingness to want to help heal rather then just take down cause they don't understand. I loved this and could not tell you that enough!! Amazing job and lovely read.

I enjoyed reading this. A positive perspective and the words of wisdom are refreshing. Nicely done

She was an incredibly brave and loving person, and no doubt saved lives. This is a great poem, well written and genuine. Those last two lines could stand alone as a mantra.

Well said Eddie! But I ask, who mercy is it that's really showing through? Nice piece never the less.
