There are mental illnesses, but we have to ensure that our children are really ill before we just take an opinion that will affect their entire life.
They tell our kids to take the pills; it will help them to forget It will give them inner peace and take away all regret They won't remember their actions; won't dwell on their wrongs If we give them the pills, they will fit in and then belong They won't feel too hyper; however it won't slow them down Just give them the pills, its scientific and ethically sound What they never really tell you is the Hell these pills can bring All the neurotic nightmares and silent stanchioned screams When they are suppressed on pills nobody really sees their pain They drown in a waterhole of emotion because someone stole the drain We are building a nation of the repressed; we have taken away their drive We say it’s for their good but without drive they can't survive Millions upon millions are addicted to these behavioral pills While billionaires are laughing madly; profiteering off their ills They say give your child the pill; it will help them to belong But I ask you to really ponder... Can you take it when things go wrong?
I have a friend who was told to put his child on behavioral drugs. The kid was fine before the drugs and now has problems that will last his whole life.

Behavioral meds no doubt have their place but they are blatantly over prescribed by MD's caught between a rock and a hard place expected to "fix" complex behavior problems with a prescription pad.
This is a great poem Eddie. It's along the lines of the stuff I write about

If we perhaps want to stifle creativity and if people are happy (I am aware of the contradiction) just being grey. With no ups or downs then yes. There is a wider democratic moral issue here as well as a personal one.
On the one hand people never grow being safe. The journey is always important but safety also is.
I absolutely agree, Eddie - I see kids who are medicated each year, and I want to shake their parents and their doctors - I see it in adults, too. This is a culture that says to take a pill for everything, instead of teaching people to deal with Life as it comes. Well thought out, and very well written.
Dear Eddie, kindred spirit, a soldier for on high. Keep it up my friend as there is much work to be done.

Pills brainwash people, man. I know from experience, they can turn you into a drone or a hyped up fool. Good expressionism.

When doctors tell people that the pills will keep their childs emotions subdued they are saying held down. If you hold a person back long enough something is going to break free. Desperation creates fervor and fervor can create anger. We need to stop medicating those who don't need it. Thanks for reading.
I saw on facebook someone said "Depression is the most widely diagnosed disorder while exercise and self discipline are the least accepted forms of medication" Too many pills are given out to people who think that life is supposed to be fun all the time

We take pills for everything and have people with devastating emotional problems. Those people who take the pills are affecting everyone. Those they live with and those they interact with. It is a slippery slope and many collapse into hopelessness. Sparking others to dope up just to deal with the pain of their loss. Its a sad thing. Thanks for reading and sharing your thought on the poem.
'What they never really tell you is the Hell these pills can bring
All the neurotic nightmares and silent stanchioned screams' these two lines are so powerful, not only can I relate but I get the message and do agree. glad you wrote your thoughts out for the world to finally understand this . Great job . much love

I am passionate about it myself because I have seen the devastation these pills bring on a family and a child. Innocent children are hurt for life based off biased opinion and a easy way out.
