TO BE WITH YOU AGAIN

I wrote this poem for those of us who have lost someone. Its hard but time heals and memories soothe the hurting heart.

I really want to say I love you; I didn't say it all the time
I wish we had one more moment, to let me share what's on my mind
For more days then I could count, you were always there
I never thought of it ever ending so I let days pass without much care
I'd give back all those wasted days and hours just to hold your hand
I'd transit times black shadowy ocean just to be with you again

 

Who I am is because of you; just because you were always there
When I took my first steps, it was because you showed me that you cared
You clothed me and kept me; you cheered me up when I was sad
You fed my inspiration; you tanned my hide when I was bad
Whenever I needed an ear, you never left me on my own
Though we were sometimes far apart, you were never really gone
Now I stand here with a somber heart, wishing I could just hold your hand
Praying for just one more sacred moment to be with you again

 

Life is a shooting star; it glows bright and burns out fast
Before you even know it's gone, the blessed light of day has past
Yet, you raised me to understand, the Sun will rise after every night
After every test and trial God will make everything alright
Our years passed by so quickly; the time burned away to fast
I can't help but smile at all the memories that illuminate our past
Even though I stand here tearfully wishing I could just hold your hand
I have to praise God for your life, and rejoice that you're with him again

Its a beautifully written piece. Maybe i find it so because i can relate to it in ways more than one.
I loved the flow and the simplicity of the words. Transitiveness and rhyme were beautifully coupled in these beautiful lines. Loved it.:)
Losing and moving on is life's bitter truth. This is a beautiful tribute.
