SUFFER THE INNOCENT

Some look at innocence as a bad thing. We seek to expose the innocent to pain because we go through pain. That should never be the goal.

 

 

It is the innocent that suffer; they are the ones we often use
They wither on the vine and perish from our abuse
Left alone after our desolation they expire in despair
They are marked and maledicted but our lust doesn't care
We trample on their innocence; we steal it without restraint
Molested by our evil; only in death do we call them saints

 

How many innocents have you coveted?
How many died screaming in your bed?
How many of them have you wronged?
How many souls have you given dread?

 

Take time to love that vestal flower or build up that playful boy
Cherish your innocent wonder; don't tarnish their inner joy
Innocence is a blessing; it is immeasurable and intense
We are born with its wonder, its worth more then common sense

 

Don't let the innocent suffer, hold them firm each day with joy
Love them for their hearts; never abuse them as your toy
To be innocent is never simple; evil seeks to lead them astray
If we lose all the innocent; then only evil shall rule the day

You have a great gift Eddie. There is a great deal of wisdom in this poem. "Molested by our evil; only in death do we call them saints" this line was particularly well put and so true. It's a tragedy that keeps replaying over and over.

I would hope that people look at innocence for what it is. A child is a innocent spirit. It becomes corrupted by what it sees and hears. We often hear people say "Loss of innocence" that is a bad thing. We want to keep our innocence as long as we can. Thanks for reading
