WITH HIM AGAIN

WITH HIM AGAIN

A Poem by Eddie Phillips
"

I lost some people I knew in the Colorado Movie Theater shooting. I wrote this in tribute. It was never posted on WritersCafe

"

Storms come to shake us; times are hard but we must hold fast
God said though there be trouble none of it will ever last.
We see the Devil active around us; he is a jackel, coming  to steal our hope
He snatches and kills our innocents; he desires us not to cope

The enemy has encamped his Demons around us and his throops have slain a few
But know that God is still there for us and he will always see us through
We will not be victims in this struggle, we will fight the lions wraith
God's love is strong and eternal he will always protect our paths
Faith is worth the struggle, and joy he will provide
Just fight on through these hard times and never lose your stride.

There are agents of pure evil who live to strike down their fellow man
But keep your eyes on Jesus, I promise he always has a plan
It may seem like tears won't stop falling and  your heart is forever filled with vice
But know God said "We walk not in darkness but stand in his light of eternal life"
Though enemies may besige us we shall not live in fear
Though wickedness encircles around us we are protected because God is near

We mourn the loss of innocence
We cringe at their future's promise slain
Yet, take some comfort in God's promise
For they are beyond all further pain

I did not want to write this, I too was lost in my pain
but I take comfort in my God's wisdom
I know they did not live in vain

I look at the young and old praying calling on God's tender grace
They turn their heads towards Heaven and fervently seek God's face
For a moment we stand as a nation holding our father's eternal hand
Remembering that when we seek him he will bring peace to the land
He will wipe away the tears of heartbreak
He won't let the Devil win; for God knew all their beginnings
So we must trust he prepared them for the end

The loss of innocence has been tragic
Full of a sickness we cannot understand
But take heart that God now holds them in Heaven
And they are in peace with him once again

Author's Note

Eddie Phillips
John Larimer was a Sailor I worked with. He was a intelligent young man with a life of promise and hope. He was killed in a movie theater by a man with no love or respect of life. I was so full of hurt over the last few days, so I did what a writer does. I wrote my hope and prayers in my words. John we knew each other briefly but you have had an effect on my life. The Navy lost a sailor but so many lost a friend. I pray for your soul and ask that God keep you in the everlasting light. Please pray for the victims of the Aurora Colorado shooting and their families.

Will do Eddie.
Very moving piece...this verse encourages me; "For the end of the matter is better than the beginning thereof."
The comforter is your (and their) comfort. Stay strong.
