EXALTATION OF EXCELLENCE

EXALTATION OF EXCELLENCE

A Poem by Eddie Phillips

When you are in a funk
Turn your head up to the sky
Look into the Heavens
And watch the larks that fly

They exalt in their excellence
Soaring through Heaven's great skies
For they know God has made them
To abound in glistening skies

Exalt in your own excellence
Know that you are Heaven’s prize
For God made you to stand
Just as he gave larks wings to fly

No Journey is too long for you
No job is ever too hard
For you have all the help you need
With God as your eternal guard

Sometimes pain may wash over you
Tears may stain your cheeks
For excellence must demand sacrifice
If it is to ever achieve superior feats

Your exaltation of excellence
Is about finding your inner worth
You are God's wondrous masterpiece
There is only one you upon this Earth
Put your eyes on Heaven
Be conscious of the larks that fly
For they abound in their exaltation
Because they know that God is standing by
