REAL HEROES

 

 

 

What defines a true Hero?
Is it what they exude from their hearts?
Is it the beauty of their skin?
Is it the witticisms they may impart?

 

What defines a true leader?
Is it the things they choose to do?
How they solve complex problems
And always seem to pull you through

 

Real heroes are just human beings
They are real and not born on a screen
Real heroes are people who give their all
As they encourage you to reach for your dreams

 

The one teacher who always inspires
The doctors working hard on a cure
That fathers & mothers who provide for us
Those who teach you how to endure

 

Somehow heroes have been corrupted
We make heroes of losers and fools
We look to them based off their clothing
Their money, their fame, and their jewels

 

We idolize the truly ignorant
Those who ignore and violate our laws
We honor the drunk and the selfish
Cheering as they flaunt their selfish flaws

 

We need to look to our real heroes
Who daily do all that is right
The ones that teach us forgiveness
And never let us lose hope in the light

 

We need to honor these real heroes
The people that help us through each day
For the things we learn from these heroes
Will help us show others the way

The doings of mainstream media has successfully crafted heroes out of the drunk, wasted, flashy dresser, that can't seem to get their life in order, mug shot, caught in compromising positions, childish, material hungry celebrity. We parents, not all, have let our children down. Leaders in the church, not all, have let our children down. Teachers, not all, have let our children down. It's a question of the heart. If we as a collective don't have the courage to address what's wrong with our society out of fears of being called a bigot, then we deserve the already seen outcome.
