SOUL'S ROAR

SOUL'S ROAR

A Poem by Eddie Phillips
"

Let your lion roar!

"

You pilfered my knowledge
Besieged my sacred pride
You ate away at my yolk
You left nothing of me inside

You told me that you loved me
I subscribed to all your lies
I only saw you as a angel
You were the Devil in disguise

You were a maniacal voracious sloth
Eating the leaves of my eternal soul
Devouring my hopes and dreams
Leaving me empty and unwhole

Now that I finally away from you
The truth is shining on me
New dreams and hope are growing
From my soul's reblossomed tree

I am free of your devouring
No longer your innocent prey
This lion has found his will to courage
I roar out loud and proud today

Excellent! I really love this poem. It speaks to me. I love the ending showing that hurt can bring strength. Great write!

so much passion in the language and choice of images throughout the poem, really did enjoy it. The poem also seems very "anthemic" with the use of the lion in the last stanza.

Thank you. Just a affirmation for the day. I am trying to write at least a poem a day this month.
