LOVE'S COVE

LOVE'S COVE

A Poem by Eddie Phillips

I sat on the banks of sorrow
Hoping someone would finally come
Walked the sands of unknown tomorrows
Under the heat of a lonely sun

Lost in my trepidation
Mental seagulls sang of loves end
Tears fell like rain
As I recalled old fair weather friends

From the beach of dashed dreams
I looked out on the ocean of hope
I sailed a message in a bottle
Praying someone would find my note

I saw a ship bearing your love
Navigating my coast of utter despair
Guided by my flickering light
You found your way into my care

At the port call of destiny
We joined hands and became one
Left the beach for the land of promise
Hand and hand; our new lives have begun

Fantastic write Eddie. The ending is my favorite "Hand and hand; new life begun". This line has so much hope and promise in it. Beautiful poem.

An imaginative poem which tells an alluring story of regret and loneliness which is happily assuaged by the hand of fate as long hoped for love intervenes, despite the odds being stacked against this solitary soul!

Top write, so well expressed !

How beautifully put...it is like you could see into my heart at one point in my life.

We each travel that coast line within our lifetimes.
