THE MUSIC OF MISSING YOUA Poem by Eddie Phillips
I sit here alone, half a world away; listening to music as the night turns to day I pick up the phone, wanting to use it; hearing your love calling in the words of the music.
I know you are far away and dreaming of me, unaware of how your love tortures me.
Wait… Eddie Levert is singing my heart; I sing along to my favorite part:
"You’re the sweetest thing I know; you dim the rainbow’s glow;
A tear falls as his words unfold, his lyrics speak to my aching soul. You're the desire of my heart, everything I adore, my desire, my half, and so much more.
To be away from you is like joy without fun, like heat without fire, like Earth without Sun. I want to hold you close; say that you're my everything. I hear my thoughts in the words that Teddy P sings:
just let my record show that I gave you all the love I know! Feel me! I want to feel the fire! Don’t try to play with my emotions! Give me love and all your devotion!"
It’s time for work and after that our Skype call. For a few minute my loneliness will fall.
I'll see the smile on your sweet face that takes the place of your warm embrace. I'll pray these sojourns keep me through each day, until by your side I am there to stay. Until then my love, sleep and dream of me, as I think of you and what will be…
