SUPER SENSE (A SUPERMAN POEM)

SUPER SENSE (A SUPERMAN POEM)

A Poem by Eddie Phillips
"

I love Superman comics! It is what it is! LOL

"

I hover above the spherical
Listening to people scream and their children weep

Watching blood like rivers overflowing
As their madness puts pressure on the deep

Not one can fully shake off their BullSh!t
They seem to walk around in it without care
I too can feel its muck upon me
Its grime builds heat in my stare

A part of me wishes I could leave them
Let them flounder in their enigmatic fate
Yet every day I rise to save them
Despite the fact they take it for sake

Still, I was raised to believe in them
I feel that righteous pull at me each day
Like a locked pathologic savior

To their murderous barbaric ways

The alien in me doesn't understand it
It cannot see past their human wrong
It wonders why I save them
Is it love? Or just because I’m strong?
Is it because I need them? Or just need a place to belong?

I think my Pa once put it really quite simple
I think of him as I float here tonight
He said:
"Clark you will always be SUPER!
You have SUPER strength, SUPER speed, and SUPER sight
Yet, The thing that will make you really SUPER;

is a good sense of wrong and right."

Author's Note

Eddie Phillips
I am a big fan of Superman Comics. I am looking forward to the new film. I wrote this a few days ago while hanging out. I wasn't gonna post it but I think it has a good message despite being based on fiction. Its taken from the perspective of Superman trying to understand why he saves Humanity.
