BROTHER HATE

 

Written to be terse
Though you used angelic verse
You were rude but feigned not being mad

 

You believe that it's okay
These little evil things you say
You are honest, so how can that be bad?

 

But in your comments there’s a vibe
That you poetically try to hide
As you tear away at others blessed work

 

You make fools of all the rest 
To make your work look the best
I see the hate you strategically displace

 

You throw your wicked stones
Then you pick at withered bones
Eating those who fall to the games you like to play

 

But brother I am not the rest
I am beyond your stupid tests
I see the hate inside you on full display

 

See a fool is a man
Who will never understand
The truth that God has laid right in his hand

 

You too were given a gift
Yet, instead you choose to tift
Insulting the talents others have too received

 

So like all deceivers that defame
You will be labeled as a lame
Exposed for the scavenger that you really are

 

For what we reap we surely sow
and soon Brother Hate you will know
When you are swallowed by the envy that you let grow.

 

I see you Brother Hate
and I feel sorry for your fate
For the evil that coming you helped to make

Author's Note

Some people hate openly and some people try to be deceptive. No matter how they do it HATE is HATE. If you see someone hating on another and you say nothing you just signaled to that hater that is ok to be evil. Love each other but also speak on that which is wrong.

Love the poem and your authors note. Yes hate and jealousy are often intertwined. And some try to hide their dislike within plain sight. They twist and turn things so as to appear the victim or innocent. And yes we have a responsibility to act against hatred and ugliness. If you can't speak out openly you can make it clear privately that you won't condone it. This is especially important on social network sites.

Once again you've written a great poem of social commentary...good work Eddie!!

Thanks for reading. I wanted to write a poem that talked about the deceptive and secretive hater. Those are the most dangerous because they slyly tear people apart and wear down on their confidence. Thanks for taking the time to read over this poem.

It's amazing how some people are filled with hate and venom -- and they don't realize that the only ones who are dying from the poison, are themselves.

Yes, yes, yes! Those who belittle others are actually self loathing and cannot see the good in another because their eyes are blind to the truth of who they are. I feel we should uplift one another, not tear the other down!

It is good to be honest if we see a mistake but I prefer to write a private note if I think it is something that may be corrected. And, I always do it in love.

We must love our brothers and sisters and encourage, not discourage!

one spot...in sixth line did you mean "you're honest"?

yes, to this piece...harsh, mean criticisms have no place anywhere...and often it is subtle with sarcasm and that is worse.

we are all poets trying to make our way...and we need each other...support has to be there.

i have been on other sites..and been attacked, seen others attacked...on one site i just got so angry with as you say "the haters"---i fought for the newbies, the young and/or fledgling poets...and i got three strikes and got kicked off...by the monitors no less...

i really was cheering throughout this..

and yes, the meanest critics often aren't that good themselves, but belittling others makes them feel better about themselves...that unfortunate scenario will never go away..

Yep, good catch. I have been trying to read over a lot of my older poems to catch errors like that. I am a weird poet, in that I write something and will not look back at it for a while. I now force myself to go back and reread what I wrote to catch errors in usage and punctuation. I agree with everything you said. I hate when people hate for no reason. I explored this subject in a few poems. I think I have finally extinguished the flame of it. LOL Thanks for reading and catching my error.
