DEPLOYED SACRIFICE

DEPLOYED SACRIFICE

A Poem by Eddie Phillips

Yesterday my son SKYPED me
all day for an hour or two
I know it’s because he missed me
and the truth is I missed him too

It’s a hard thing to live
this "Deployed" military life
it takes you from your children
your loved ones and your wife

However when you look at it
the price is worth the time
For we sacrifice for the safety
of yours as well as mine

The world is full of insanity
so we can't take our task for sake
Sacrifice guarantees a future
for the lives we helped to make

Being deployed away from home is hard. I cannot express the feeling of not being around your children. Yet in the end the sacrifice is not just for your child but for the peace of all.

I've spent time deployed. The hardest part is being away from the family. I take my hat off to those men and women that have been doing it longer than a year, so hard on the soul. Good piece!
