NO LUCK IN LOVE

NO LUCK IN LOVE

A Poem by Eddie Phillips

They say in love I'm unlucky
and I wonder what that means
Love is not happenstance
or sugar coated rainbow beams

Love is true substance
It is direct and from the soul

Love is completion
An example of being made whole

To say I am unlucky
is to flip a coin or throw a die
That isn't real love
that is gambling on a lie

I would never gamble my heart
for mine is one of a kind
It is the spirit that guides me
when I can't trust my mind

I prefer to be called blessed
in the matters of my heart
For that means God can guide me
and show me where to start

Then there is no mischance
When it comes down to love
For I am not guided by luck
but by my father up above.
