THE REAPER'S SILENCE

THE REAPER'S SILENCE

A Poem by Eddie Phillips

There's a sound to silence
It's still, timeless, and slow
by the time you catch its rhythm
It's already time to go

The universe is silent
It quietly moves in time
dark, moody, and patient
the reflection of our final mind

You can't hear the Reaper
but to everyone he comes in time
He uses the sound of silence
to quiet all our minds
As the silence overtakes you
He's grabbed you before you know
For the reaper is patient
He kills you as you grow

The silence is his weapon
It’s how he gets in our mind
Withering at your conscience
eating away your time
Sometimes we catch his shadow
we call it a trick of the mind
as the reaper laughs in the hollows
that exists outside of time

I issue you one final warning
A truth that you ought to know
It’s something consider
when the reaper says
its time to go

Don't fear the reaper
He'll come; we all know it’s true
He'll use the fear you give him
to R.I.P. the soul right out of you!
