LOVE HURTS IN THE DARKNESS

The plea of a hurt woman

 

 

I don’t want to find a place to hide hurt
Because it hides the truth of what my love's worth
You don't think I know the truth, but I do
I am nothing but a shadow to you
I live in your dark away from love's sun
Heated by the sparks of lies that fall from your tongue

 

You continue to rain down on me with your lies
You shadow all the light I have in my skies
I was lost before our journey begins
Because you stole the road from me; the start, and the end

 

Your frozen pride refuses to let me ever be free
Your cold has stolen all the heat out of me
So lately all I ever do is just cry
Frostbit from your cold and watching parts of me die

 

I plead to whatever love you have left in your heart
Just let me go so I can make a new start
Because the love you give me just isn't real
I deserve a love my heart can really feel

I can't live with your hurt anymore
I pray for the strength to walk out of your door
So I can finally feel the warmth of love's light
Shining from someone that will always treat me right
So take these words that I say are our final goodbye
And please spare me the lies in the tears that you cry

Just let me walk into a brand new day

Taking all my love that you threw away

Let me leave you a warning in my goodbye
So that you never make another love cry:

 

Remember that everyone wants to be loved
And it’s a honor given from the Lord up above
Don't hurt another love with all of your lies
They will only make you live more senseless goodbyes
That path only leads to you being alone
You will have just your lies to keep you company in your home
 

So please find the real love of your heart
Because this goodbye also gives you a new start
I give you this one final hug and one last cry
Moving on with just a simple:   Goodbye.

Wanted to write a poem about a woman leaving. It was based off a actual relationship I saw a friend go through.

Very good writing Eddie - describe the woman who has been completely drained of all strength including that which she requires to begin anew ergo the suffering goes on and she grows even weaker. I imagine its just as hard for men who feel this way too but I like that you chose to write from a woman's POV due to experience you had via your friend. Gutsy writing.

You wrote from this point of view very skillfully, Eddie - the mark of a true poet, able to empathize. I have never understood women (or men) who stay in a painful relationship, and I admire those with the strength to realize that they are worth being treated well. Great write here.
