NEVER ALONE

NEVER ALONE

A Poem by Eddie Phillips

I stood alone
a willow in the wind
a raindrop on the ocean
a child without a friend

I was always looking backwards
never seeing what was in sight
sad and easily broken
a problem no man could make right

But that's when he touched me
when I was at the bottom of my rope
He reached his hand down to lift me
and gave my life new hope

He told me I was worthy
of the precious blood he spilled
He said he had forgave me
and I had a house upon his hill

He said he would guide me
if I let him in my heart
and he renewed my purpose
and gave me a brand new start

So no longer am I that willow
or that drop in a sea of rain
I am a saved child of God
and I will never be alone again.
