ILLUSION'S OF A PLAYA

ILLUSION'S OF A PLAYA

A Poem by Eddie Phillips

Man you ain't no Playa! You're thinking like a fool
Sitting around here playing games while life just drives on through

Professing a self imposed destiny to live your life alone
Never ever committing, sitting on a kingdomless lonely throne

Living a life of pure debauchery where nothing seems to matter
while silently feeling life's misery, Man there is nothing sadder!

Brothers open yourself to possibility, and learn in life what's true
That God made no man separate; there is someone for you

For we are son's of Adam and he too was once alone
but through grace and splendid mercy God came down from his throne
He created for him Eve; fashioned from man's own rib bone
so that Adam could have a partner, and never ever be alone.

She was created as his equal, as all women will attest
The bone of his bone, and the flesh of his flesh.
See Adam soon understood that he was truly blessed
For God gave him a "good thing" to help him be his best

So brother drop the Playa role, you're living your life all wrong
and if you're not too careful your created Eve will soon be gone

King, don't lose your kingdom, go claim your Queen in time
For she will be your lover and the helpmate of your mind

She will fulfill all the desires that you will ever crave
and help provide you with direction in life's crazy twisted maze.

See the spirit of the Playa is temporary at best
For the Harlots that you cling too will never pass the test.

You’re looking for that one, that unconditional Lover,
the best friend, the companion, the one day future mother

She will always value you, and always give you cover
She will stand right by you side; when there is no other.

So drop the illusions of the Playa and start to live your life
Seek out your good thing; find your Eve, your bone, your wife.
