THE RACEA Poem by Eddie Phillips
I'm running now with attitude You put my Life in solitude You took away my Sun
You stripped me of my confidence When you got inside my head. You took away my health Left me here for dead!
Cheating; you got ahead of me In this race for eternal life You weighed me down with problems Detoured me with your strife
I was lost out here doing things You wanted to make my soul untrue Satan you took away everything Even those I thought I knew.
I almost gave up my destiny I know that made you smile I looked and you were winning You were ahead in this race by miles
Then Satan you got arrogant You thought the race was won While you saw yourself winning God sent to me his son
He coached me and he told me This was not my end The race isn't given to the swift but to the one who endureth until the end.
So while you thought you were winning Playing the Hare in this eternal race You didn't see my "making"
I am no longer discouraged Like I was when the race began I found my faith in Jesus He told me I will win
I'm running now with attitude My eyes are fixed on the prize I'm on your heels Satan Pushing past your lies I'm running past you Devil Now you too see I will win The finish line is in front of me I am no longer tempted by your sin
I move on to victory My race is finally won and Jesus is there to greet me
Saying "Good Job My Child Well Done!"
