Genuine

Genuine

A Poem by Jose Waldo

Genuine people can be rare to find.

So often we fall for the mask everyone hides behind, and not the real person underneath.

We accept people who we think are beautiful outside, but not inside.

We trick ourselves into thinking someone is a good person because they are normal. The standard.

But when we find someone who’s not standard, what you thought you knew vanishes.

It hit me like a hurricane.

All of a sudden there is a speck of light in the darkness.

After being submerged for so long, I can finally breath.

They are like the missing piece from your life and the person you can’t bare to live without.

They find their way into your heart the way a dog finds it owner.

These people are special. These are the people that you can’t push away, no matter how terrifying it is to be vulnerable.

These are the people you can’t forget, and who shape you into a better human yourself.

I like how, trough a poem that flows fluidly with the air of truth in each word, you celebrate genuine people. And it is interesting how you brush upon hypocrites who pretend to be good on the rosy surface but may not necessarily have a good heart, though they seem genuine.

So what does say about the notion or factor of being perceived in the universe as a genuine kind soul? It means humans aspire to be wise. Whilst others daily contemplate finding new ways (by standing on moral platforms, applying virtues deemed civilized for the harmony of humans) to fortify their vulnerable integrity, safe from lies and exploitation, others travel the route of deceit, selfishness and heartlessness.

WELL DONE!!
