AlienA Poem by nicola. In honor of the 50th anniversary of "Bloody Sunday", the vicious attack on civil rights marchers in Selma, Alabama
An alien to your own existence,
Roaming the streets you call home. Not a bone in your body cries for help Yet green tears roll from your eyes. Tears burn into the ground below And drip into the firey core, Igniting the fire and seeping lava Sprouts and war ignites above. Alien to your own planet, The only one you've ever known. Yet treated like a deformed Martian As if your spaceship is lightyears away; Yet it's tucked deep in the Milky Way, On a planet flowing with blue and green, And it's been that way for millenniums and days. You call this place home. And will for years to come. If they don't send you Home. Long before your tears and cries for Glory mean anything. Alien to your own home, To your own race, To your own blood. In memory of all those who lost their lives, not only in Bloody Sunday, but for civil rights.
