She Paced Back & Forth

She Paced Back & Forth

A Poem by nicola.

She paced back and forth,
An apron tied round her slim
waist, Her hands deep in her pockets,
Her mind deep in thought.

A plate of uneaten bacon,
Butter long melted in the grits,
Not only was the coffee missing,
But her lips were missing a kiss.

Fond memories long forgotten,
Worsened by the stranger in her bed,
The children's father, just a  shadow,
Their mother's heart, misled.

Very, very true. Just cause you feel lonely, that doesn't mean rushing into a new relationship will make you feel any better. The girl should get closer with her kids and sort her life out a bit more. No reason you can't grow a bit when you feel down.

And, that's what is good about this! It says very much without saying much at all. It gets a very specific picture in your head and uses very little to do so. It's also a very striking poem. Very well done.

Thank you!
Seems there's amiss in the spectrum of things...the way you open the verse...and one thing leads to another...and then you put the icing on the cake in the ending of this write...and just puts everything together...yet far apart from the reality of it all...a broken home...and its surrounding...

you're welcome...
My parents are divorced so this interested me, especially the third stanza. It really grabbed my attention. I really like the flow and rhythm to it also, it's gentle on the mind. Lovely :)
