To Feel

I know what it is to feel pain

How it feels to slip away

From the body that holds the truth

To be ripped away from youth.

I know what it is to fall apart

And watch it from a distance

To change without consent

Deprived of innocence.

I know what it is to lose

The liveliness of a heart

That once was so willing

To love from fingers to toes.

I forgot what it is trust

To jump without looking first

And feel with all the nerves 

Numbed by bitterness.
