Picture Prompt 2

A Poem by eglantine

The ruins of the Eiffel tower

stuck jarrbled and sharp

like broken obsidian bones

behind him as geometric

flakes of charred propeganda

cluttered the air, blackened

the light.  His hair, onyx

with night-shade, covered his

iced-eyes

au revoir, mes amis

he whispered before the rest

of the moon fell.

I like this--it has a gentle melancholy mixed with a harsh bleakness that's hard to match. It also speaks of the futility of war pretty well.

This poem is one great example of the reason I am falling in love with your writing. Amazing.

for some reason this reminded me of the goodbye scene at the airport in the classic movie Casablanca. humphrey bogart should deliver the 'au revoir' line in this poem.

Lovely use of imagery and I like the pause before the last line. It made it resonate just that little bit more. Oh and I like the little French you threw in there. It flowed well with the rest of the piece even though it wasn't written in English.
