Insomnia

Insomnia

A Poem by eglantine

(There are galaxies pinwheeling all around me and I can’t sleep.)

there is a malignance

festering within my bones.

night has hypnotized me numb.

it pulls Lake Michigan’s secrets in.

i stare at my cracked wrists.

there is mold in the crevices

of my mind.

i need stardust, to taste the burn of light.

the moon pulls blood from my heart,

shivers from my skin,

a sirens scream from my throat.

Parrot like I repeat, but it is true, eglantine is a remarkable poet. It might be worth putting these
`Lake Michigan`poems, into a collection, poets often produce a series of poems on a theme, and all
of this poet`s work is printable and deserves to be read because of its quality !

Yes...insomnia seems to be a recurrent theme for you (sorry to hear it)! I can tell by your erudite expression of the sleepless impact; you are intimate with the condition. I like the phrasing and the almost "Beat Poet" methodology you chose. Good work!

I really hope you are able to get the rest and sleep you need.

I used to suffer from insomnia, but since I started working third shift I have realized that I sleep well enough when I get a chance to :)

I was listening to a biography of Sylvia Plath and went to read "Daddy" again and it made me think of you. This poem seems to have a little Plath in it.

I hope you are well. Don't forget me when you become Poet Laureate okay? :)

So hope the release of these brilliant, magic-tinged words gave you the rest you needed... and the dreams to give you relief from such maddening screams. Powerfully voiced.

Plath-y. I like the lack of capitals. Looks stream of conscious-y.

Thank you Elliott.
This describes it quite perfectly. You found the perfect words for that void-type feeling I can never quite put my fingers on. Great piece. Get some rest. (;

I wish I could do that! I usually just slip into a bubble bath reading
I can feel the need for sleep through your words. The celestial word choice gives a starry, sleep-filled imagery. Very visual and powerful!
