Delicate light

Delicate light

A Poem by eglantine

There’s fog in my brain tonight,

freshly rolled in from the split-tongued harbor.

Mist pales my skin; shivers keep me company.

Wrap me in the moons’ sheer curtain.

Paint me with watercolors from a Lake Michigan sunset.

I can’t remember the last time I held wild violets

or built a sandcastle only to watch the waves lick it away.

My bones crave warmth and the caves of my heart are damp.

Yew trees grow in my lungs; their leaves rustle when I sigh.

They crave ten thousand year-old light.

I unhinge my jaw

and swallow falling stars.

Oh my goodness, girl..."I unhinge my jaw an swallow falling stars" "paint me with watercolors from a Lake Michigan sunset"...GORGEOUS! The Great Lakes are truly magical. My favorite is Lake Superior. I have spent much time watching sunsets from her shorelines.

There is a certain enchantment with the way you craft words and phrases... thoughts just slightly ajar... creating emotional spaces in vibrant colors. Beautifully painted canvas of Lake Michigan here... and all else within you.

~~ for me... this is an exquisite array of images that link sights with sensations... ultimately depicting not just the existence of the poet(ess) but the universe itself... ~~ beautiful work...

I find this quite imaginative and clever. I think I may now dream about swallowing falling stars.

Eglantine is a very talented poet, this is excellent. I would advise all young poets to look at this,at the originality of the imagery, but ast the same time the thematic unity, and the internal and external relevance of the words, both universal and confessional. Read this.
