Delicate lightA Poem by eglantineThere’s fog in my brain tonight, freshly rolled in from the split-tongued harbor.
Mist pales my skin; shivers keep me company.
Wrap me in the moons’ sheer curtain. Paint me with watercolors from a Lake Michigan sunset.
I can’t remember the last time I held wild violets or built a sandcastle only to watch the waves lick it away.
My bones crave warmth and the caves of my heart are damp.
Yew trees grow in my lungs; their leaves rustle when I sigh. They crave ten thousand year-old light.
I unhinge my jaw and swallow falling stars. © 2015 eglantineFeatured Review
