Soul-ache

Soul-ache

A Poem by eglantine

wrap me in rose-thorns,
I have no need of skin
   and this morning is too
   bright to kiss.

cold palm on window-glass,
   legs shaking like prayers,
   leave me naked of song,
   wipe away my breath
so I can watch the trees
   pretend to be priests.

I am a pair of quiet lips,
   a left shoe forgotten outside,
the alpenglow in a bottle of wine.

I, like the clouds, have no need of skin.
   Let me have no shape
   but airy water dissolved

   across a window.

This is stunning E. A certain sadness seems to filter through your words this morning, hopefully someone comes along and with their finger and draws a heart in the mist now gathered on the glass so you will know you are loved. Beautifully done. I thought about picking out a line or two that I liked the best, but they all fell into that catagory to me.

merci! :)
So vivid, and yes, grey. Sad thinking of a morning too bright to kiss, yet there's not a syllable in this which you've not made count. Xo. Well done.

Forlorn comes to mind...and the need - the actual need - for skin and to be wrapped in love. In any event, it produces beautiful poetry. P.

yes, you always seem to understand the poem :)
Pain and sadness is palpable in this read, it's dark, yet beautiful. This depression makes us feel less than and is much fodder for poetry but no fun in it's pure essence. Nicely pen'd.

It was, sometimes you can just 'feel' the writing, my pleasure.
A heartbreaking poem, shows the loneliness, the pain and misery very well, great job
