Night

Night

A Poem by Aiko Chan

Night is silent, beckoning,
Air is chill, taunting, enticing,
So easy to run, never come back,
Hide from the hole humans call life,
Mindless drifting, working, excelling
In what? (A pit called “the future”)
In the meantime, a night is smiling,
Waiting to be taken, waiting to be tried,
Path is lit, trail is marked,
So, so easy just to run.
Take it? Leave it? Choice seems clear.
Down the steps, take a left,
Sprint like you’ve never lived before.
Door is closing, sun’s begun to rise.
Last chance, darling.
Do you take it?  Do you hide?
