Memoirs of the Conceptionist (II) - The Nature of HappinessA Chapter by W. C. Forrest
I am not sure what compelled me to write today. Maybe acceptance of what the heart perpetually refutes or; realization of the instants when innumerable thoughts cloistered in your mind are crushing you, stupefying you and the walls guarding your sanity are coming crashing down and only safe haven is your innermost shell.
The question is not about being happy, but, what exactly is the inherent nature of being in the state of vivaciousness, of being exuberant. The definitive nature of merriment is such that it is extremely fickle. One moment it immerses you with all the festivities, the zesty atmosphere and the very next moment you go completely numb, searing with anger from unexplained emotions, unsatisfied past or at the unknown future. This might be a person's volatile nature, the undercurrents of ever personified calm exterior or simply being human. What makes understanding the nature of happiness even more arduous is discerning the prerequisites of attaining such a state of mind. Some say it is governed by money, some advice contentment and some even suggest complete detachment among innumerable other conceptions. What is even more confounding is that myriad personalities have found happiness (If at all, it is what is felt) when the other people around are elated. So, the question still remains, what it is that gives you true jubilance? What is more important, To live for for other's happiness or for one's contentment? There is no one single approach but many, or maybe none but then as said before; the inherent nature of happiness is such that it is fickle. © 2014 W. C. Forrest |
