and june

A Poem by eena

I'm a slacker-
take up August half-way through
and tell myself it's just that
I'm busy;
but it's just that
I'm feigning sleep for a few more minutes,
I'm closing my eyes to the blinds
that get a little more off-white
the closer to noon it gets.
lick my lips
and
taste the sugar left over,
turn over
on my stomach
and tell myself
september soon,
and february
and june.

this was a cute little poem, i like how it has a touch of reality, that when summer comes we often put off things to do nothing, overall good write.
