Imperfect beauty

Imperfect beauty

A Poem by Edward Vidaurre

Once a queen

among her ranks
she  fell from grace
a slow descent
a destined end
she glided
and prayed
that she
would be caught
by a child
or a romantic soul
who might save
her
in a book
of poems
or a stack of love letters

with teardrop stains
that were never sent

but were always read...

Oh my. This one brought a tear to my eye. Definitely short and sweet... or lacking sweetness, perhaps. I fear this poem may relate to more than a few women out there. I especially like how you used the word "falling" as it really does capture the emotion of grievance and melancholy. What made me misty eyed, however, were the middle lines

that she
would be caught
by a child
or a romantic soul
who might save
her

We are sentimentally weak at times. We're vulnerable. That's all we want, really. Many, many kudos.
