THE SHADOW OF FEAR

THE SHADOW OF FEAR

A Poem by papaed

"

I’m unable to share,

enjoy food,

or to sleep without ugly dreams.

I’m too easy to scare,

always rude.

I jerk awake to my own screams.

My defense against boys

keeps me safe.

My legs are unattractive sticks

Others seem to find joys.

Not this waif.

I know no way to get my kicks

I hate this dreadful life

Filled with fear.

I wish only I could be free.

The rapist held a knife

at my ear.

The memory can overwhelm me.

Very well penned with the fear and emotions so raw in this. Good job! ~ Helena

very sad that people don't respect other people and their space to live freely and in peace as all of us should live.
