Antipathy, an SP2 challenge

Antipathy, an SP2 challenge

A Poem by papaed
"

feeling no sympathy feeling much pain and dissapointment

"

a solitary sequestered wife
the epitome of genteel womanhood
pensive, simple and longing for life

conflicted fantasies and fears
dreams of illicit relations, agonizing hesitations
have elicited tears for years

alone in her rec. room she loves to dance
swirling to rhythmic electric beats
her aura shows her need for romance

alone in her studio she loves to paint
abstract deceptive, perceptive canvases
a complex substitution, a feint

alone in bedroom in piles of debris
with drugs she hallucinates her paramour
conquered, her feelings long to be free

alone at her desk with pen in hand
composing in the syntax of love
the genre universal throughout this land

in walks her man resembling her antipathy
his self concern is paramount
she no longer cares for his sympathy

What a horrific existence you describe for this woman, but clearly it is one many women have endured. This is a wonderfully written and structured write with each stanza representing another aspect of her life. You can take us from room-to-room in her house, but also aspect to aspect of who she is and what she's sadly experiencing.
