Homeless Abecedarian

Homeless Abecedarian

A Poem by papaed
"

an alphabet acrostic on a homeless theme.

"

AS we traverse this lonely, luckless life

BEGGING is a choice no one makes.

CLEARLY earning our way makes less strife.  It

DENIGRATES all when one just takes.

EVERYONE starts out to create success.

FORAGING food is not a pleasant choice.

GARBAGE eating makes us feel less,

HUMILIATES those with little voice. the

IGNORANCE of those living their dream,

JUDGEMENTS of scorn and superiority,

KINDLES hatred of those not on a team, who are

LOST and drowning in inferiority.

MISDIRECTED addictive behavior,

NOTIONS of choices wrongly made, and

OF personal worth without a savior, yields

QUIET inward-focused role being played.

REVULSION at those who seem to have less

SEEMS to elevate those who have more.

TO truly empathize is to bless.

UNITE true feelings and open the door.

VARIOUS gifts provide a helping hand.

WRETCHED lives can have fresh starts.

XENOPHOBIC thoughts can ruin this land.

YELLOW-BELLIED bigots, open your hearts!

ZEROS too often show false pride.

This is clever, it really works read both ways. I read your other homeless piece before this one and I liked that but I like this a whole lot more, this packs a punch and the flow of the piece is great. This is one for reading aloud.
