Death is Fleeting

Death is Fleeting

A Poem by papaed
"

Contest entry for Tovli's ten. On the brevity of our lives.

"

I look up and contemplate my death

AM I to know that coming moment

A release; a loss of breath

MAN tries to make life rhyme

IN the search finds joy and torment

LOVE lubricates this trip through time

WITH a mate I smile toward the end

THE memories of moments spent

SETTING milestones as I ascend

STARS persist; remain constant

Brilliant, and a beautiful way of describing what we all have coming to us. Your words mirror my entire sentiment on the cycle of life and that we're mere specks in comaprison to the greater universe. I felt happy while reading this. Happy in the knowledge that as we get older, it's love that enables us to ascend without fear. Thank you.

Sorry for the delay in commenting papaed. A thoughtful and lovely write you have penned here for the challenge. I am just re-reading through all the poems again and will announce the winner shortly.

Thanks for submitting this beauty.

I thank you all for reading this. Yes, I felt inspired to meet the criteria and to add rhyme and rhythm. I embrace my age, but old age is creeping up on me. I work through pain, drive myself to try to maintain health, give less time than I wish to writing and I recognize that I have easily 250 poems scattered around the internet and only shared with a few friends. Such is the path we follow. Filled with results of choices made. I look at my pic here and see the birthday cake in my glasses and notice that the deep wrinkles I now wear and the perpetual bags under my eyes were not there then. And most of my teeth are gone... but I can still smile when I read your comments and love you all. Peace to all.

It is fortunate for us that the stars persist, and allow us to remain constant as we search for reasons to hold on, to be here, to help us move past thoughts of death. It is the love we ultimately find as we follow the stars that gives us peace, and allows us to realize that Death is Fleeting!!
Excellent poem, and wonderful creation for the contest!!!

Dear papaed,

Liked this one. Was going to make suggestions. Then read it again and I agreed with your words. Read it a third time and agreed even more.

An excellent write! Much better than the normal fare for a contest. This stands so well on its own.

This was greatly enjoyed, My Friend!

My very best regards and congratulations!!

Rick
