A Poem by Ed Hart
"

a cantonal

"
the machinery
of stars and bodies
it's a wonder
we can breathe
for the wonder
of it

There are galaxy's waiting to be discovered. The night sky with all its star seems to me to be a reminder that we are such a tiny piece of something much bigger we may have yet to discover.

I spend my days now reading and writing poetry Ed. At the end of each day the Newtonian rules of
force and space conquer even the best of my reasoning. So I lay down and dream of it, of writing it;
of reading it outloud to myself. Even of wondering why the poet put each word in each sentence
and why he or she spaced the sentence's .Are the spaces just improvisation? Abstraction? Subjective symbolism? Experimentation? Or in these short poems, is it just a time to breath even when i'm
not out of breath?

I mention this because there is an art to being brief. An art to knowing when to stop. No one really knew about brevity until Dickson came along in the 19th century. Before her, thoughts had to be
dragged out with newsworthy conclusions....Because poets, especially those baroque, wanted to
emulate Renaissance paintings. I have tried like hell to get it. Tried to understand the magic
behind your curtain making the protagonist white dove disappear. No use. So in my failure, I leave such
slight of hand to the masters...

and you sir, are the master...great poem..../dana

Seventeen words and a lifetime of thought... beautiful.

Stare into the wonder that is 'fuchsia' and weave garlands of it around space then, not only breathe but catch the wondrous scent of 'out there' with a hint of Man's re.arrangement

You've made me adventure into a world where... only true emotion deserves to dwell.

We are so complex in design, yet so simple in our need.

Just six lines and you show us the span of the universe.

of course the girls are even more complex than the boys, in their simple way...
geez, Ed...i am always in awe of your writing...

this twists a somewhat simple concept into an intricate thought...yes, when we concentrate on the machinery of nature it takes our breath away...when we get too caught up in machines themselves...we lose that awe...that wonderful contact----
