Dunno about the extended phenotype; if memory serves Mr Dawkins himself admitted his book contained nothing new and amounted to not much more than unabashed advocacy.
Enjoyed your poem though Ed; it tells me that it's all about how one wakes up each morning and greets the new day. :))

A gentle, intuitive laying of words created from well-used, steady stepping stones, sir Hart. And how you make this reader think and - promise to bear the meaning in mind.. that's assuming i've interpreted correctly!
For some, surrender comes too soon and unnecessarily - tis how they are. For others there's still a hunger and urge to say to their failing this or that, 'To hell with that', then, they walk rather than run - as before, but that walk continues and so does the celebration of moments simple or magical because they're there for the taking.
I have a dear neighbour aged ninety three who'll totter down the beach with a companion to get into the sea. She'll then swim till she's obliged to stop. Then, she'll emerge, as she always has, laughing, tthrilled and - utterly beautiful - a glittering diamond on size four feet. Her one remaining relative reckons she was born a Mermaid! Could be - and nothing's ever stopped her or will.
Too long, sorry. Your words so often inspire however..

Plus, a slice of sponge cake she'd made for Sunday visitors. Ninety three, still handling a hot oven.. how about that! Pray i never miss the rhythm of.. Tis always a pleasure to read your poetry.
It's polished, it sparkles, and it's as good a metaphor as any. Carbon can also come in the form of pencil lead, easily broken and easily rubbed out, sadly. Having said that, Sade who sang of Diamond Life back in the 90s doesn't look as if she's aged a day. Some of us are genetically lucky, I suppose.
~ i can't think of anything more significant than "embracing the poetry of moments"... ~ it's all that we can do at any given point in time... but incidentally... it's also quite substantial... ~ that's why no matter what else happens, i don't let go of words... ~ silence is never as articulate as poetry can be... especially if wielded to express innermost experiences... the brutal and the beautiful... ~ it is in our nature to delve and no one can stop a fish from swimming...
