lady of the lace

lady of the lace

A Poem by Ed Hart

what are the odds
encountering you
at this gas station
miles from everywhere
and years of grace

i'm as you see
contained
losing all those victories
cleanses the lenses
so to speak
thank you
for this embrace of memory
the gifts and sudden cliffs of you
your smile
which i see is darker red

don't pout
your spirit wears it well
and i'm grown old beyond repair
no sense of pretty speech

i wish you well
again...

Perfectly lovely my dearest Sir. It doesn't need defining by for me, certainly ... it happens to us all every once in awhile but your gracious words put it so thoughtfully together that it becomes remarkable, nearly spectacular. You have that knack, you know. :)

thanks! it was a very nice visit! And good to read your words again. :)
Hello Ed, I really enjoyed this one. People come round again sometimes to remind us of things, but they may leave as quickly as they came, and that's ok. Everyone we meet teaches us something.

Beyond repair...oh yes... that time arrives when something crawls inside to tell biology the time I felt it creep and slept with one eye on the clock and under bed alternately the form constricts in pits more closely to the whence I came than sky where once the aspirations were to fly and by the by met bye bye snuck up tapped my shoulder like a last drinks call or prison staff at a too brief visitation telling me it's time yes it crept up fast and I lost track somewhere along the line my teeth are sound the hair be grey may nothing fall, fail, break, decline or dissipate just one more day
